(FYI, this event is NOT open to the public!) About two months ago, I was given the opportunity to coordinator a Silent Auction for the Rush Oak Park Hospital’s Annual Physician’s Gala. This just kind of fell in my lap, even though to be perfectly honest, I had ZERO experience with silent auctions. Heck, I’d never even attended one! But I thought it would be a good opportunity and jumped on it! And phew, it has been a lot of work, I won’t lie, but the big event is tomorrow… Wish me luck!
I wanted a few “big ticket” items that attendees would find cool, so I turned to the Autograph Store Charity Fundraising site, and chose the following items from their HUGE selection of celebrity autographed memorabilia . These are on a consignment basis, meaning you pay the consignment fee ONLY if they are sold. If not, a pre-paid Fedex label is provided and you ship these back at no cost to you. So obviously you have to start the bidding above the consignment rate… Check out my goodies – I ooohed and ahhhed as I opened up the package the other day!
Framed 8 x 10 Johnny Depp autographed photo, valued at $400, starting bid $150:
Sylvester Stallone autographed boxing glove, valued at $500, starting bid $225:
Framed 11 x 14 Jonas Brothers autographed photo… ok, DON’T laugh at me for selecting this one! I’m hoping some nice parent decides to bid on this for their teenage daughter! Valued at $900, starting bid $350:
Framed 8 x 10 President Obama autographed photo, rare because he doesn’t sign many autographs these days! Valued at $1000, starting bid $400: (I don’t quite understand the use of quotation marks here… why?!)
I’m hoping we’ll have a few Bond fans in attendance who’ll go ga-ga over this one – framed 16 x 20 Bond image with signatures from all 5 Bonds – Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery, Daniel Craig, Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore. Valued at $1500, starting bid $1600:
And I’m hoping that THIS is the big seller of the night… Framed Michael Jackson autographed Thriller album, valued at $1500, starting bid $600: (Again with the quotation marks, weird)
There have also been MANY generous donors, who I am so grateful for! Here are just a few of the purely donated items up for auction:

And on a completely UNrelated note, it is a beautiful day in Chicago! Nothing like a bunch of blooming daffodils (for $4!) to remind you that Spring is right around the corner! Although the weatherman calls for snow this weekend, noooo!
