Musings on a Destination Wedding
I was never a destination wedding type of girl… I probably considered it for all of… half a second. Why? In my vision for my wedding day, we were surrounded by ALL of our family and friends. Clearly that took the destination wedding idea out of the running. But in a little less than four weeks, the husband and I will be headed to our very first destination wedding! Our good friends R & S are gettin’ hitched! They wanted to do away with all the usual local hoopla, so they opted to have an intimate, 40-person wedding in Hawaii. Yes, I’ve been to weddings that have taken place in other cities where I’ve had to fly/drive, but never one where everyone has had to travel. And I am soooo excited! Not to mention, I’ll actually get to sit back, relax, and truly be a guest! No running around for me, HALLELUJAH!
I can’t wait to experience a true, Hawaiian-style wedding at the gorgeous St. Regis Princeville Resort (we won’t be staying there though, bummer) on the island of Kauai. Not only that, but I am SO excited to go on a vacation with friends! We’ll be going with three close couple friends (plus the bride & groom), and it’s all we have been able to talk about as the time gets nearer. As an added bonus, this trip falls right around the time of the husband and I’s three year anniversary, so we’ll be able to celebrate and re-live our honeymoon, which we spent in Hawaii back in 2007! This time, we’ll be spending 4 ½ days in Kauai for the wedding and hanging out with friends. And then we’ll head to Honolulu with husband’s best friend and his fiance for another 3 days. Sounds heavenly…
And as bathing suit panic sets in, I have working out like a crazy woman, hah! Yesterday at the recommendation of Hollie, I started the 30 Day Shred, even though technically I only have 27 days left. But who’s counting?
What about you, have you been to many destination weddings, or are you planning one?
